E.P Classical Guitar

E.P Classical Guitar is run by Angel Villagran, classical guitarist and teacher. This journey began with the El Paso Guitar Quartet ensemble formed in 2017 by the leading classical guitar players in the region.  This page is intended to serve as a solo artist portfolio but also to highlight the people who play and study classical guitar in the region.  There are currently around 17 high school programs dedicated to teaching and competing in UIL events at the state level.  Out of nine districts, the three major ones are EPISD, SISD, and YISD, with some programs being part time, and some fully dedicated.  We are thrilled to share the local talent that often goes unnoticed in the region.

Angel Villagran has taught guitar at EPISD since 2013.  His program has received 1st Place at the state level several times.  Mr. Villagran has also been a performing musician in the region since 2002.  He graduated from El Paso H.S and went on to EPCC and UTEP where he studied classical guitar with a student of Pepe Romero.  He currently teaches guitar  full time at Andress H.S, offers private guitar instruction, and performs for private events.  He is a proud husband and father and is part of this diverse and vibrant community.

Mr. Villagran's performing experience includes popular local bands, Guitarmonia Guitar Quartet, the El Paso Guitar Quartet, and solo performances for private events.

His guitar teaching experience began in 2009 for UTEP's P3 Program.  He joined Mario Otero's "La Guitarra" as a studio instructor in 2011, and completed his student teaching at Franklin H.S under Stefan Schyga in 2013.  He has been teaching full time at Andress H.S ever since and currently serves as the school's fine art's department head.
